The International/National Center for Assault Prevention is a project of the Educational Information and Resource Center (EIRC), a public agency based in Sewell, New Jersey, USA. ICAP's focus is the prevention of interpersonal violence through curriculum development, research and evaluation, public education and comprehensive training. The CAP Project began in Columbus, Ohio in 1978. It has since offered trainings in 32 states and 18 countries and is recognized as one of this country's most comprehensive and innovative prevention programs. CAP teaches children and adults that the right to grow up in safety is as fundamental as the right to eat or sleep. Each year, more than one million children, parents and teachers receive CAP workshops in their schools and in community settings. CAP has been featured in several national publications, on network television and at a variety of national and international conferences.
